Our tutors are a dedicated group of community members with one thing in common – the desire to give some of their time to make a child feel like they are the center of their attention.

Tutor Training occurs on two Saturdays (usually consecutive). The goals of our training are to equip tutors with an understanding of how race and poverty impact many of our students, provides strategies for teaching the components of reading, gives insights into dealing with student challenges, and prepares our tutors to create lesson plans. We do not attempt to make tutors professional teachers, but we do give them the tools needed to begin tutoring. In addition, we provide monthly supplemental workshops. There is much to learn, and the rewards are many. For more information, please contact Carol Green (info@wizardswardrobe.org).
