On Friday April 8, 2022 The Wizard’s Wardrobe, a free one-on-one tutoring program for elementary school age children in Albany’s South End, was delighted to have the opportunity to host a Book Bonanza at Giffen Elementary School. The Wizard’s Wardrobe donated 250 books to Giffen Elementary School students in grades K-2. This was made possible thanks to a very generous donation from the First New York Federal Credit Union.
The event was welcomed by Mrs. Jasmine Brown, Principal, and the details of book distribution were managed by Dawn Castle, Instruction Coach at Giffen Elementary School. Representatives from the Wizard’s Wardrobe, pictured above, helped to carry in 250 books and set up the Book Bonanza distribution center in the cafeteria. Attendees witnessed the excitement on the faces of students as they picked their books and the deep gratitude of all the teachers involved.
The Wizard’s Wardrobe believes that all children deserve the opportunity to succeed. The vision of the organization is “Through literacy, every child will be poised to reach their full potential”. The Wizard’s Wardrobe wants students to find the joy and magic in reading, and from the looks on the students’ and teachers’ faces, the Book Bonanza was a great success.
