Wizard’s Wardrobe, a nonprofit free tutoring service serving Albany’s South End, is hosting a Virtual Readers’ Theatre event featuring “Bridge to Terabithia” author Katherine Paterson on Monday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m.
Local authors Margaret “Miki” Conn, Lorraine Garnett and Marion Roach Smith are providing additional readings. The Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York is joining them. Times Union editor-at-large Rex Smith is the master of ceremonies.
The event begins at 7 p.m. with a Zoom after-party following at 8 p.m. Sign up via the Wizard’s Wardrobe website, https://wizardswardrobe.org, or on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/WizardsWardrobeWeb.org/. The suggested donation is $10, or become an honorary committee member with a donation ranging from $100-$500.
Wizard’s Wardrobe starts working with children in the first or second grade and aims to have each child reading proficiently by the end of third grade. Trained tutors work one-on-one with each student.
