Our Readathon is an exciting annual event designed to celebrate and promote the magic of reading while also raising funds to support our mission to provide free, one-on-one literacy tutoring to elementary school children in Albany’s South End.
During the Readathon, students track the number of minutes they read during a 2-week period. Anyone (friends, family, supporters, community members) can sponsor the children’s reading efforts, helping Wizard’s raise funds needed to strengthen and expand our program for early readers! The students compete in teams and there are prizes for our top readers. The friendly competition provides more reading motivation and shows that books can be fun and rewarding!
